That’s Alright Momma

July 5, 1955

On this day in 1955, a broody, handsome, hip-swiveling young man from Tupelo, Mississippi stood in front of this very microphone at this very spot in the tiny Sun Records Studio in Memphis, TN to record "That's Alright Mamma," the song that started it all.

There is an “X” on the floor, made from black electrical tape, to show exactly where Elvis stood.

When Bob Dylan visited Sun Records, he knelt down and kissed the “X” on the floor, honoring that life-changing moment in musical time.

Thank you. Thank you very much.
